Double Balloon Enteroscopy is a new technique and endoscope that allows your physician to navigate the entire small bowel from either an oral or rectal approach. This new endoscope is currently only available at one hospital in north Florida, and Borland Groover Physicians have been trained and perform this procedure here in Jacksonville.

Double balloon enteroscopy will aid in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of small bowel disease. Prior to it's introduction, this was an area which was very difficult to get to. This new technique will allow our physicians to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic techniques within the small bowel without the need of an open surgical procedure.

They have treated patients who have recurring bleeding due to diseases of the small bowel. Dr. Etzkorn recently returned after giving a lecture and demonstrating DBE to participants at a conference on emerging new techniques in endoscopic surgery in Bogota, Columbia.
